Slipper Lobster

 

Commonly called the "Spanish lobster," this peculiar creature resembles a flattened, oversized hermit crab without a shell. Shy and reclusive, the slipper lobster is occasionally seen by divers. This lobster grows to 25.4CM / 10IN and has very abbreviated antennae. Stocky with short appendages, its coloration varies from orange to brown, yellow or purple.

Spiny Lobster

Look for this shy, but well-armoured lobster in cracks, crevices and on the underside of our reefs. Generally growing around 45CM / 17.7IN - not including the long antennae which doubles the length of their body - a spiny lobster may be seen by day in dark nooks. Look for the tips of its antennae peeking out under ledges.
